Jamie was only 49 with a wife and two young children (the youngest being 5 days old), when he suffered a massive stroke. Previously fit and healthy, a non-smoker and with no family history of stroke, he never in his wildest dreams imagined it would happen to him.
He was attending a social gathering when all of a sudden he felt a strange sensation down his left side. Luckily for Jamie there were people in attendance that recognised what was happening to him. He was rushed to hospital, underwent surgery was swiftly put on an intensive rehabilitation program, which included re-learning how to walk and talk.
Fast forward to today and Jamie is back working and even completed the Sutherland to Surf charity fun run. Jamie largely attributes his amazing recovery to getting to hospital quickly and being able to afford, through his insurance, intensive rehab.
